Jake and Ashley’s August wedding at The Fallbrook House at Canandaigua Country Club was the perfect example of how a Finger Lakes wedding can feel like a true getaway while still being close to home. Although they’re from the Rochester area, hosting their wedding in Canandaigua gave guests the feeling of a destination weekend without the need for extensive travel.

The couple chose to rent several Airbnbs for the weekend, which allowed their wedding party and close friends to get ready together, stay overnight, host an after-party, and take photos in multiple scenic locations. Having everyone spread across a few properties added complexity to the day, but it also created a relaxed, weekend-long experience that felt intentional and fun.
Because Canandaigua offers such beautiful scenery, Jake and Ashley wanted to maximize their photo time earlier in the day. We spent a lot of time in the planning process creating a detailed morning timeline and photo shot list to ensure nothing felt rushed. This included coordinating shuttle transportation to move the guys to the girls’ Airbnb, transporting the full wedding party to the venue, delivering décor items, and later getting guests to hotels, Airbnbs, and the after-party. With careful planning and communication, the day flowed seamlessly.

Their ceremony and reception both took place at The Fallbrook House, which sits right on Lake Canandaigua and offers incredible views along with full-service support. The ceremony backdrop overlooking the water was framed with rented floral arches from It’s My Party, adding just enough structure while keeping the focus on the lake. After the ceremony, we worked with the photographers to gather extended family members efficiently so portraits could be completed before Jake and Ashley joined cocktail hour.

One of the biggest advantages of The Fallbrook House is how much is included on-site. The venue provides in-house catering and beverage service, along with tables, chairs, flatware, glassware, and furniture. Jake and Ashley chose a mix of long and round tables and upgraded to long table linens for added texture. Tables were styled with bud vases and hurricane candles the couple provided, which my team set up earlier in the day. The florals were arranged by Stella’s Florals earlier in the week and dropped off the morning of the wedding, making setup smooth and efficient.

The reception energy was undeniable from the very start. Guests were welcomed with cold sparklers from Encore, and Jake and Ashley surprised everyone with a live saxophonist who played along with their introduction track. Dinner was served buffet-style by the venue and was a guest favorite. For dessert, the couple cut a small cake and offered bite-sized treats from Cheesy Eddie’s, which were quickly enjoyed.

Once the dance floor opened, it never slowed down. With light-up accessories, cutouts, sparklers, and an enthusiastic crowd, the celebration carried late into the night. As the evening wrapped up, I worked closely with the venue to gather personal items, manage final logistics, and ensure guests were loaded onto shuttles for the after-party at one of the Airbnbs.

Jake and Ashley’s wedding was a thoughtful, well-executed celebration that balanced beautiful scenery, meaningful moments, and a strong logistical plan. Being part of a day that felt so natural, joyful, and well-supported was truly an honor.
